Dekko Trading is a socially conscious lifestyle brand dedicated to supporting marginalized people with upscale handicraft work in India. Dekko Trading’s mission of empowerment and family preservation through job creation has proven to be a viable solution for the current trafficking crisis affecting the world.

WAGES & BENEFITS

Artisans receive a fair living wage and work in a safe environment. Wages are usually 2 – 3X the minimum wage + medical, educational, and social benefits.

TRAINING

Each artisan receives skills and training that help them build a sustainable and scalable future. We develop new skills in our artisans to help them grow in personal confidence and create products that are competitive in the global market. Job skills training give our artisans a lifelong advantage. We also promote language and literacy development, as well as financial management training, for our artisans.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

We provide hope and dignity with employment rather than a hand-out. We provide dignified work to at-risk men and women, many of whom have never had an education and cannot read or write their names. We know every artisan family and their children. Many of our artisans are able to work from their homes or workshops. We offer flexible work hours, especially for artisan ladies who have numerous responsibilities to juggle.

DESIGN & QUALITY

Our designs are modern, unique, and appeal to a broad market. Indian culture is blessed with incredible creativity and ancient craftsmanship. We encourage artisans to be experimental, exploratory, and expressive in their work. This fosters greater satisfaction in our artisans and allows us to have the most unique and cutting edge artisan goods. We train our artisans in quality standards and expect excellence in their work. They take great pride in the quality of their work.

PRODUCT LINES

Our product lines are diverse, handmade, and eco-friendly. Our artisans work with wood-free paper to make journals and cards. Our brass and sterling silver jewelry is handmade, nickel-free, and long-lasting. We use vintage sarees and hand block printed cotton to make market bags and unique items. We use recycled materials as much as possible. Our expanding product lines include jewelry, semi-precious gemstones, paper journals, bags, purses, home decor, and many other artisan goods. We are pushing the horizons of our artisans’ skills to blaze trails on India’s frontier as a key manufacturing hub.

LOCAL MATERIALS

Over 90% of our raw materials are sourced locally. Gemstones, handmade paper, vintage sarees, hand block printed cotton, and raw metals are all purchased locally in order to stimulate the Indian economy further and create more jobs.
